In November, the “Take Off Award” was presented for the seventh time. The initiator of the award ceremony, which took place in Potsdam, is the sponsoring society of the same name. With this award, the society wants to honour volunteers for their commitment and at the same time inspire people to do voluntary work.
CONTIPARK has been supporting the non-profit association, which is based in Berlin, for several years now. The commitment in the social sector is particularly close to the company’s heart. The society, which pays tribute to all those who devote their free time to socially relevant projects, offers an excellent opportunity for this.
The “Take Off Award” is presented annually in the three categories of education, training and humanity as well as in a special category. In addition, an honorary prize is awarded. In 2018, this went to civil rights activist and former GDR opposition activist Ulrike Poppe. The winners were chosen by a nine-member jury chaired by Britta Ernst, Brandenburg’s Minister of Education.
More than 14 million Germans hold honorary posts, which is about 16 percent of the German population. Most volunteers (25 percent) are involved in child and youth work.
