Besides numerous new acquisitions 2019 brought the company successful project completions as well as the start of new, trend-setting projects and furthermore several awards for a multitude of the state-of-the-art parking facilities Contiparks.
Portfolio grows by 19 parking facilities
A total of 19 new multi-storey car parks, underground car parks and parking spaces were added to the Berlin car park operator’s portfolio last year. Contipark’s most prestigious new parking facilities include the “Arena” car park and the “Plaza” underground car park at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin. Since August 2019 Contipark operates the two parking facilities at the second largest multifunctional arena in Germany, which is among others home of the sports clubs Alba Berlin and Eisbären Berlin. Contipark has also expanded its first-class portfolio in other German metropolises – with the underground car parks “Am Sandtorkai” in Hamburg’s HafenCity and the underground car park “MesseCity” in Cologne’s Deutz district.
Eight of the new properties are located in the immediate vicinity of railway stations and are operated by Contipark for DB BahnPark, a joint venture which the company founded in 2005 together with Deutsche Bahn to operate parking facilities at railway stations professionally and efficiently.
From old to new: professional refurbishment
Not only with its new objects Contipark sets a big value on high standards. Also existing properties are regularly checked for possible optimisation potential. Last year, for example, the renovation of the underground car park “Friedrichsforum” (formerly: “Stadthalle”) in Bayreuth was completed on schedule. In the middle of 2019, another extensive refurbishment project was started in Aachen. There, extensive work will be carried out in the “Lothringer Strasse” multi-storey car park, probably until mid 2021, after which the car park will offer its users parking comfort at the highest level.
Sharp increase in the number of P Card users
The P Card has also continued the trend of the past years and its positive development was maintained in 2019. Meanwhile the smart parking service of Contipark counts more than 310.000 customers in Germany and Austria. The number of parking facilities where drivers can park easily and comfortably with the P Card or the DB BahnPark-App has also continued to grow. About 450 Contipark locations from Husum in North Frisia to the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt offer P Card users ticketless parking and cashless payment.
Award-winning parking
A further highlight are the numerous awards Contipark parking facilities have been honoured with in the last twelve months. For example, the Cologne underground car park “Schildergasse” was awarded by the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce as best Cologne parking facility. The European umbrella organisation of car park operators, the EPA, had also honoured other parking facilities of the company with the internationally coveted ESPA Awards. The “Semperoper” underground car park in Dresden, for example, as well as the car parks “Forum Landsberger Allee” in Berlin, “Bahnhof Lahnstraße” in Gießen and “Galerie Wiener Platz” in Cologne received the European Parking Standard Award. The underground car parks “Schildergasse” in Cologne and “RheinMain CongressCenter” in Wiesbaden were even awarded the European Parking Standard Award in gold due to their exceptional service quality.
