The “Martin-Luther-Ring” car park in Leipzig’s city centre has a new operator since 28 December. The Berlin parking company CONTIPARK has taken over the management of the parking facility under a long-term lease agreement.
The “Martin-Luther-Ring” car park was built in 1998, and the refurbishment of the concrete and floor coating of the property, including the markings of all floors, was completed in October 2020. The garage offers 400 parking spaces, distributed over 13 floors in a split-level construction. Parking spaces for people with limited mobility are also provided.
This is CONTIPARK’s first property in Saxony’s most populous city with around 600,000 inhabitants. Around 77,000 commuters flock to Leipzig from the surrounding area every day, making the city a commuter stronghold. The demand for parking spaces is correspondingly high.
In the immediate vicinity of the multi-storey car park there are office and commercial buildings as well as residential complexes. The old town with its pedestrian zone and numerous shopping opportunities is only a two-minute walk away, as are a multitude of sights, museums as well as hotels, restaurants and cafés. The customer groups of the multi-storey car park are correspondingly diverse. Employees and visitors of the surrounding offices, residents, commuters, hotel guests and guests of the city: they all depend on central parking facilities.
In order to offer them the highest possible parking comfort, CONTIPARK has planned a number of investments for the location. New parking technology, LED lighting, new signage and the purchase of a cleaning machine are planned. Customers will then be able to choose from various cashless payment methods in addition to cash payments. The connection of the parking facility and its entire technology to the company’s own Customer Service Centre also offers great advantages for drivers. In case of questions or problems, they can reach trained service personnel around the clock via a call button. They can control the entire car park technology remotely and, for example, issue a replacement ticket if a ticket is lost.
Improvements are also planned in terms of opening hours and tariffs. The opening hours are expected to be extended from spring 2021, when the “Martin-Luther-Ring” car park will be available to drivers 24 hours a day. They can already benefit from favourable rates: For 1.00 euro per hour and 3.00 euro per day, they can park their car there. Particularly in view of the fact that the city of Leipzig significantly increased its parking fees at the turn of the year, the CONTIPARK car park “Martin-Luther-Ring” thus offers a cost-effective alternative for all those who want to go into the city centre.
