The Berlin parking operator Contipark celebrates its company anniversary. On 27 November 1967, 55 years ago, the company was founded in Berlin. Today, more than half a century later, Contipark can look back on a successful company history – and is positioning itself for the future to continue this success story.

Originally, the company was founded in autumn 1967 to manage a single parking facility: the multi-storey car park of the then newly built Europa Center in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district. At the time, the property had around 1,000 parking spaces and its own petrol station. This makes the Europa Center car park the first property of the Contipark group of companies in Germany – and it is still operated by them today.

The “Parkhaus Europa Center GmbH”, as Contipark was still called at that time, was originally a pure parking space manager. Over time, the company developed into a full-service car park operator with a differentiated product portfolio. In the meantime, the company, which already expanded to Austria in 1970, operates more than 570 parking facilities in more than 200 cities.

In the future, Contipark wants to maintain its role as market leader in Germany and contribute to shaping the mobility of tomorrow. Therefore, the company consistently focuses on the technical and customer-oriented further development of its products and services. This includes the expansion of its parking facilities into so-called mobility hubs, which link several forms of mobility with each other. In many places, customers in Contipark properties already have access to various sharing services. Contipark also implements the integration of rail transport in an exemplary manner with its joint venture with Deutsche Bahn, DB BahnPark GmbH. The company promotes the increase of bicycle traffic by creating additional parking facilities on and in its properties.

Another focus of the company is to offer the most comfortable and seamless parking experience possible. To achieve this, Contipark relies on technologies such as licence plate recognition or ticketless and barrierless parking and is implementing these in more and more of its parking facilities. The company is also currently working on the implementation of an extensive project in the field of electromobility.
