Contipark has carried out a general refurbishment of the seven-storey car park, which was built in 1972, over the last year and a half. The entire building has been extensively renovated and all concrete components have been repaired. The ceilings and walls have been given a new coat of paint and all floors have been provided with a modern surface protection system. Old washing facilities and ancillary rooms on the ground floor were demolished and can now be used as car parks.
The multi-storey car park in Neubaustraße (entrance: Franziskanergasse 14) with a gross floor area of over 10,000 m2 on five upper floors and two underground levels was acquired by Contipark back in 2006. “Ownership is an obligation, which is why we have now invested a mid seven-figure sum in our multi-storey car park in Würzburg. Acquiring property is part of our corporate strategy, because we are committed to the long term. This is the only way we can offer our customers a stable price structure and consistently good service in the long term,” says Michael Kesseler, Managing Director of Contipark.
Energy-saving LED lighting installed
The technical systems were all refurbished and brought up to the latest state of the art. The car park was fitted with new LED lighting and completely re-signposted. The car park looks brighter and friendlier. Lighting often accounts for 60 per cent of the electricity consumed in a car park, which is why Contipark has been installing LED lighting since 2011 wherever it is contractually and structurally possible.
E-charging stations planned
Contipark is also planning to install 33 new charging stations for electric vehicles in the car park in Würzburg. “This initiative is part of our commitment to offering innovative and environmentally friendly parking solutions. When operating our charging stations, we also attach particular importance to verifiable power supply from renewable energy sources,” explains Andreas Knops, Member of the Management Board and Head of Real Estate. Contipark has been certified as a CO2-neutral company since 2013 and is continuously working on making the operation of its car park facilities sustainable and environmentally friendly.
XXL parking spaces at no extra charge
Contipark is taking the new vehicle widths into account with the refurbishment of the car park. “We have turned three parking spaces into two, creating comfortable XXL parking spaces in most of the car park – and at no extra cost to our customers, because at Contipark the same low rates apply to all parking space widths in a building,” says Stefan Opitz, member of the Management Board and Head of Operations.
New: Ticketless parking
Registration and payment are carried out in compliance with the GDPR via licence plate recognition. This makes it even more convenient for customers. The payment process is simple: customers can use their GiroCard, credit card or Contipark’s own Pcard+ payment card to pay at the pay machine before leaving the car park. All they have to do is enter their licence plate number and pay the amount due. Cash is no longer accepted with immediate effect.
Favourable Pcard rate per hour or part thereof also applies after the refurbishment in Würzburg
Despite the high level of investment, the car park charges have not been increased. The rate “per hour or part thereof” with the Pcard, the low-cost Contipark payment card, remains at 1.50 euros, the “hour or part thereof” regularly costs 2.00 euros. The Pcard daily rate (0 to midnight) is 6.00 euros, the regular daily rate is 13.00 euros.
